Day 2

FLINT RIDGE - HOLY STONES - GREAT CIRCLE - GREAT OCTAGON

Our first site is Flint Ridge flint mining pits made by the Hopewell (Nephite) civilization.  Next we will visit the Johnson-Hummrick-house Museum in Coshocton, Ohio which houses a wonderful artifact collection. For example guests will see metal head plates and breastplates as well as the famous “Holy Stones”.  Then we will continue to Newark, to discover the most extensive and monumental earthworks in the world. You will learn more as we discuss the ancient Hopewell Mound Builder civilization that inhabited this area during Book of Mormon times. We will spend the night near Newark, Ohio. (B,D)

Day 3

OHIO HISTORY CENTER - MIAMISBURG MOUND - FORT ANCIENT

Our first stop will be the Ohio History Center in Columbus. Here you will see firsthand the largest and most impressive archaeological collection of Hopewell artifacts. This will include the iconic mica ‘hand,’ effigy pipes and textile samples, along with more metal head-plates and breastplates. Secondly, we will roll west to see the massive Miamisburg Adena (Jaredite) Culture Mound.  Our next site will be the fascinating Fort Ancient, a Hopewell fortification site. At this site we find miles of embankments, reconstructed Nephite dwellings, a fabulous museum and evidence of the use of cement. You may also have the chance to throw an – Atl-Atl, a common Hopewell weapon!  We will spend the night near Cincinnati, Ohio.

Day 4

SERPENT MOUND - SEIP MOUND - HOPEWELL CULTURE CENTER

Today we will explore the world famous Serpent Mound. This mysterious earthen effigy mound atop a peninsular bluff has massive earthwork coils that form astronomical alignments. We may also have time for a brief stop at Seip Mound before visiting the Hopewell Culture Archaeological Center at Mound City in Chillicothe, Ohio.  This restored Hopewell site features displays of artifacts of copper, silver, and stone that may have been made by Book of Mormon people.  We will then leave the Paint River Valley and drive to Indianapolis to catch your flight home and reflect on the many ‘discoveries’ you have made over the past 3 days.

Rod L. meldrum

Rod L. Meldrum is a researcher, best-selling LDS author, and international lecturer on the validity of the Book of Mormon with an emphasis on its scriptural and physical evidences. His book titled, “Exploring the Book of Mormon in America’s Heartland” is the #1 LDS Book about Book of Mormon geography with over 40,000 copies printed. He began guiding the Book of Mormon Chronology Tour in 2018.

Rod has also written a book titled “Prophecies and Promises; The Book of Mormon and the USA.” This book outlines the 36 Prophecies and Promises that clearly identify
the United States as the location of the ‘Promised Land’ of the Latter-days. It has been called a “stunning” new insight on geography research and provides historical evidence that documents containing Joseph Smith’s words, writings, and actions were consistent with the prophecies & promises of the Book of Mormon. He also served for seven years as the senior scientific researcher on the book titled, “
Universal Model” by Dean Sessions, a natural sciences textbook. The first volume of over
800 pages was just printed in 2017 and volume two printed in 2018, with volume three to follow. It’s over 2,500 pages of “New Millennial Science.”

He began his study of issues surrounding the controversy over DNA and the Book of Mormon in 2003 which led to a study of the origins of proposed geographical settings of the Book of Mormon. In addition, he has spent years of intensive study of the Book of Mormon itself and the historical background and documents associated with it. He is passionate about sharing his research of the Book of Mormon Chronology with others.
