Depart from home and head to Venice, Italy.
The group arrives and is greeted by our local tour manager, David Kershaw, who will help us transfer from the airport to Hotel Riviera Lido. Guests not on the group flight should get their checked bags and meet the tour at the Arrival Hall.
After checking into our hotel, the remainder of the day is free for guests to rest or explore Venice on their own. Walk to the beach (10 min) or take a water taxi to St. Mark’s Square. Also, this is a great time to take a gondola ride.

Later is our welcome dinner at the hotel. Expect to enjoy basic introductions and review some basic tour information as well.
During a half-day guided tour this morning, the group visits the Saint Marks Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. We will also see some of Venice’s other main sights, including the Bridge of Sighs.
This is a magnificent cathedral known for its stunning Byzantine architecture. Often it is referred to as the “Church of Gold.” Receiving this name due to its lavish interior adorned with mosaics and precious materials. The basilica has served as a symbol of Venetian wealth as well as power for centuries. Therefore it is also a significant religious and cultural landmark in Italy.
This historic palace in Italy is adjacent to Saint Mark’s Basilica. Serving as the residence of the Doge, the highest authority in the Venetian Republic. This is a stunning example of Venetian Gothic architecture. Featuring a combination of pink and white marble, intricate detailing, and a series of arched loggias. Similarly, the palace has housed various government offices and was a symbol of the Republic’s political and judicial power. Today, it is a museum that offers a glimpse into Venice’s rich history and opulent artistry.
This famous enclosed bridge, made of white limestone, passes over the Rio di Palazzo in Italy. This bridge connects the Doge’s Palace to the New Prison. Originally, “Bridge of Sighs” comes from the idea that prisoners would sigh at their final view of Venice through the bridge’s windows before being imprisoned. Stemming, rightfully, as they believed they might not see the city again. It is an iconic and romanticized symbol of Venice’s history.
The remainder of the day guests will be free to shop, explore other sites, or return to the hotel.
Today the group transfers to Milan. En route we will stop at the beautiful Lake Garda for a 2 hour lunch break. When we arrive in Milan, we will visit the Santa Maria Dela Grazi. Consequently, we will view Milan’s most famous mural: The Last Supper, by Leonardo Da Vi
This day we tour the Milan Duomo, as well as see some of the city’s main sights. Including sights such as Sforza Castle, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and Teatro alla Scala.
This cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete, and is the largest church in Italy. Visitors admire its stunning interior, which features intricate stained glass windows and impressive vaulted ceilings. Climbing to the rooftop offers panoramic views of Milan and the surrounding area.
This historic fortress is located in the heart of Milan, Italy. Originally built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan, Francesco Sforza, it served as a symbol of power and a residence for the ruling Sforza family. Today, it houses several museums and art collections, making it a significant cultural and historical tie of the city. Guests can explore its courtyards, admire its imposing architecture, and view a vast array of art, including works by Michelangelo.
This grand shopping arcade was named after King Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of a united Italy. This historic and ornate mall was designed in the 19th century and is famous for its stunning glass-domed roof, intricate mosaics, and elegant architecture. It’s home to high-end boutiques, restaurants, cafes and is a popular gathering place. The Galleria is often considered one of the world’s oldest shopping malls.
One of the world’s most renowned and historic opera houses, it was inaugurated in 1778. Since then it has become an iconic venue for opera and classical music performances. La Scala is known for its exceptional acoustics, opulent interior, and a long list of famous composers and artist who have graced its stage.
After these sights there will be free time for guests to explore and shop.
Today the group attends church services at a local ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Milan. After which, we begin our transfer to Pisa. We drive to Santa Margherita Ligure first, in order to break for free time and lunch. Following, we complete our transfer to Pisa.
This city in Italy is rich in history that dates back to ancient times. Originally a small fishing village, it developed into a bustling town during the Roman era. Over the centuries, it has seen various influences, including those of the Republic of Genoa and the Kingdom of Sardinia. In the 19th century, it gained popularity as a resort destination among the European artistocracy, leading to the development of luxury villas and hotels. Today, it continues to thrive as a popular tourist destination, and is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, historical landmarks, and vibrant coastal atmosphere.
– Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the waterfront promenade and take in the stunning views of the Ligurian Sea.
– Indulge in the local culinary delights, such as fresh seafood and traditional Ligurian dishes.
– Visit Villa Durazzo, an elegant historic villa with beautiful gardens, and learn about its rich history and architecture.
In the morning the group has two hours of free time in Pisa. After spending the morning in Pisa, the group travels to Florence.
This famous and historic bridge in Italy is known for its distinctive design and rows of shops that it houses. The bridge spans the Arno River and is noted for its beautiful views of the river and the city. The Ponte Viccio has a rich history and is a survivor of various floods and wars, making it one of the most iconic and enduring symbols of Florence.
Also known as the “Old Palace,” this prominent building in Italy is located in the heart of Florence. It is one of the most significant symbols of the city’s civic and political history. The Palazzo Veccio has served various functions over the centuries, including as the seat of government during the rule of the Medici family, and as the town hall of Florence.
This cathedral is one of the most iconic and recognizable landmarks in the city of Florence. Known for its remarkable dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, an architectural marvel of its time. Inside, visitors admire impressive artworks and sculptures, including Giotto’s Campanile and the Baptistry of St. John.
In the morning the group has a half day guided walking tour of Florence. Seeing the Santa Croce, as well as visit The Academia. In the afternoon the group has free time to explore Florence, shop or visit the Ufizzi Gallery (entrance requires a separate ticket).
This art gallery is famous for being the home of Michelangelo’s statue of David. In addition to David, the museum also houses other significant works of art. Including Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures, as well as an impressive collection of Renaissance paintings and musical instruments.
Inside this striking Gothic church you can find an array of impressive artwork, including frescoes and sculptures. As well as the tombs of many prominent figures from Italian history, such as Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, and Niccolo Machiavelli.
Today we leave Florence behind and begin our transfer to Rome. We stop at the medieval town of Siena for lunch and have some free time to explore. When we arrive in Rome, guests are free for the remainder of the day to explore the city.
Known for its medieval architecture, rich cultural heritage, and famous Palio: a horse race held in the city’s main square twice a year.
— Piazza del Camp: shell shaped square is the heart of Siena, surrounded by buildings, cafes and the impressive Palazzo Pubblico.
— Palazzo Pubblico: medieval palace is home to the Civic Museum where you can see the famous frescoes.
— Siena’s cuisine: offers delicious Tuscan cuisine, including pici pasta and panforte, a traditional desert.
This morning the group has a half-day guided tour of the Vatican. We will visit the Vatican Museums which include the Sistine Chapel, visit the St. Peters Basilica and see the St. Peter’s square.
In the afternoon we visit the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple in Rome. Guests have an opportunity to tour the new visitor’s center and participate in ordinance work. We arrange for endowment sessions for our group.
Famous for its exquisite art, particularly the stunning frescoes on its ceiling and altar wall, painted by the great Michelangelo. This chapel is the site where papal conclaves are held to elect a new pope. Also it is a place for important religious ceremonies and gatherings. To preserve the artwork, strict rules are enforced in the chapel, including no photography and speaking in a hushed tone.
Considered to be the holiest Catholic site and the burial place of Saint Peter. Guests can climb to the top of the dome for breathtaking panoramic views of the Vatican City and Rome. Inside, the basilica houses numerous artistic treasures, including Michelangelo’s “Pieta” and Bernini’s “Cathedra Petri.”
Just outside of St. Peter’s Basilica, this square serves purpose to major papal ceremonies and events. The Pope often delivers blessings and addresses the crowd from the balcony of the Apostolic Palace overlooking the square. In the center of the square stands an ancient Egyptian obelisk brought to Rome by Emperor Caligula in 37 AD. It was placed in the square in 1586.
Today we have a half day walking tour to visit ancient Roman sites such as the Colosseum and Roman Forum. After which, we have entrance to the Mamertine Prison where the apostles Peter and Paul were likely held as prisoners. Guests have free time to explore Rome, shop or relax at the hotel.
Constructed in 70-80 AD and can accommodate up to 80,000 spectators, making it the largest amphitheater in the Roman Empire. It was primarily used for gladiatorial contests and various public spectacles, including animal hunts, mock sea battles and executions. Over the centuries, the Colosseum has suffered from natural disasters and human activity. However it is undergoing extensive restoration efforts to preserve its structural integrity.
This vast archaeological site is located in the center of Rome, Italy. It was the center of ancient Rome and served as a bustling public space for political, religious and commercial activities. Within the Forum you can find a range of well-preserved ruins and structures, including the Temple of Saturn, the Arch of Septimus Severus, the Basilica of Mexentius and the Curia, which served as the Senate House.
On this day the group will have a half day guided tour of Rome. We visit famous sights such as the Spanish steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon.
This famous staircase in Italy is 135 steps. Located in the Piazza di Spagna, it is one of the most iconic and visited landmarks in the city.
One of the most famous and stunning fountains in the world. It is renowned for its grand Baroque design. A popular tradition involves throwing a coin over your left shoulder into the fountain, which is believed to ensure your return to Rome. Throwing a second coin can bring love and relationships, and a third coin can bring marriage.
A remarkable ancient Roman temple, the Pantheon is located in the heart of Rome. This architectural masterpiece is renowned for its well-preserved dome, which remains the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world. The Pantheon was originally built in 27 BC by Marcus Agrippa as a temple dedicated to all Roman gods. The current structure, with its iconic dome, was built during the reign of Emperor Hadrian around 126 AD. It is one of the best preserved ancient Roman buildinsg and has been in use for nearly two millennia. It currently serves as a Catholic church.
Today we travel south to explore the archaeological remains of Pompeii. After our exciting exploration of the ancient remains, we transfer to Naples. Once there we enjoy a farewell dinner.
This ancient Roman city near Naples, Italy, was buried under volcanic ash and pumice following the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This disaster resulted in the city’s remarkable preservation, providing a unique window into daily life in the Roman Empire.
—Well-Preserved Ruins: The city’s ruins include remarkably intact structures, streets, frescoes, mosaics, and even casts of the city’s residents who perished during the eruption.
—Luxurious Villas: Pompeii features several luxurious villas with beautiful frescoes and gardens, such as the House of the Vetti and the House of the Faun.
—Amphitheater: The city boasts a well-preserved Roman amphitheater, which could seat around 20,000 spectators.
This morning we say goodbye to Italy as we transfer to the Naples airport and depart for home.

Barcelona just recently added a city tax that was between 1-3 EU per night. This is just to let you know of this possibility. In any advent you will want to bring some extra Euros to have on hand in case that happens on our tour.
